Dr. Michael Shafran is our Lead Pastor. He graduated with his Master of Divinity from Capital Bible Seminary and earned his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  
 
Before coming to Mount Moriah in 2019, he served as a pastor in Baltimore, Maryland for 8 1/2 years and served as an Adjunct Professor at Washington Bible College and Lancaster Bible College. He also served on the leadership team for Baltimore Baptist Association.  He is passionate about adoption and serves on the affiliate board for America World Adoption. 
 
He is the husband of Julie and father of Michael, Anna, Will, and Emma. 
 
When not studying, he enjoys just being with his family, good coffee, traveling, fishing, hunting, and watching Pittsburgh Steeler football. 

Joey Smith is our Youth Pastor.  He is also the Plant Manager of Temco of the Upstate, a manufacturing company in Anderson, SC.  He grew up in Orangeburg, SC.

His is the husband of Cheryl, the father of Taylor, Katie, and Joseph, and grandfather of Lily Grace and Joseph.

​

He enjoys studying and reading.  He also enjoys being with his family, the beach, golf, and day trips with Cheryl.  He is also a huge Clemson football fan.

Amy Burke is our Children's Ministry Leader.  She graduated from Clemson with a degree in Speech and Communication Studies (B.A.) and has a Master of Divinity in Christian Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

She is the wife of Chris and the mama of Wyatt, Silas, Clara, and Jasper.

Amy loves coffee, audiobooks, and finding teachable moments to point children to God's grace.

Michael Hofmann graduated from Anderson University in Spring 2024 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Worship Leadership while working closely with the Christian Studies department.  He is a talented musician; in addition to singing, he plays guitar, bass, drums, piano, steel drum, and others.

Michael is engaged to Caitlyn Burger, a fellow AU graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music degree.

Melissa grew up in Cheddar, South Carolina, not far from Powdersville.  After graduating from Palmetto High School, she earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Lander University.  She earned her certification as Ministry Assistant in March of 2005.

Melissa has been a member of Mount Moriah since 2001 and has served as the Ministry Assistant since 2005.  She and her husband Tommy have two children, Drew and Anna.
