This morning we read about endurance in Hebrews 12. First we are called to endure and run the race with patience ( v. 1). We then see that we are to endure the discipline of the Lord. The Lord is our Father. Thus, He loves us. Love doesn’t neglect discipline but rather sees discipline through in a proper way. Discipline isn’t enjoyable but necessary. It helps us to “yield the peaceful fruit of righteousness” (v. 11). We are then encouraged to strive for holiness and to not neglect the Lord in any way. The Lord speaks, for He says in v. 25, “See that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject Him who warns from heaven." It is a good thing to pay close attention to the Lord and His ways.
